Episode Two: “Baby Making” – Path to Conception
So you decided you want to do this – make a baby on your own – and you want to go the path of a donor with the assistance of a medical professional. In this episode, we discuss the differences between IUI vs. IVF to include success rates and average costs.
There are a lot of factors you should consider when deciding which path you will choose, but among the top for women will be budget, age, and fertility situation. While age plays a large role in fertility, it’s important to work with your doctor to understand your particular fertility situation. Having this data could save money in the long run because if your doctor detects a fertility issue, moving straight to IVF could end up being cheaper in the long run versus going through several failed IUI attempts.
We also encourage women to check with their employer to see if fertility benefits are offered. Many employers are offering benefits that could include the cost of at least one IVF attempt, which could make IVF a more approachable option for some women.
