What is a Single Mother by Choice

Great post! It’s so important for any woman who wants to be a true SMC to dot every i and cross every t, especially if she’s using a known donor. Those arrangements can go sideways in a hurry even if there is a donor agreement between the parties. For example in Texas insemination has to take place in a physician’s office, otherwise the donor isn’t a donor but a parent who can sue for parental rights or be sued for child support. Other states have their own laws on the matter. It’s advisable that any woman seeking to become a SMC consult a knowledgeable family attorney and that anyone willing to help her out by becoming a donor consult with his own attorney so everyone’s interests is protected.
